Joan Sherman, Co-Director, Simmons Center for Global Chicago and Cofounder of NextGroup
A Truly Fierce Woman
Joan K. Sherman epitomizes a woman’s ability to shift and grow professionally when you focus on the intersection of talent, passion and filling a real need. Three years ago, Joan was the first NextGroup, LLC cofounder to bring the problem of relaunching a career to the table. Joan helped shape our commitment to both programming and placement for women, and lent her expertise in education and gender equity as our vision took form.
She also continued her own professional exploration and realized her vision and passion as a social impact entrepreneur beyond NextGroup. Joan connected with other visionaries in Chicago and tenaciously planned and executed a multi year process to launch the Simmons Center for Global Chicago
- can you say WOW!
Just last week, the whole NextGroup, LLC founder foursome (Left to Right: Tracy Quattrocki, Melanie Wright, Joan Sherman and Candance Chow) was able to attend Joan’s first major event for the Simmons Center at their new location atop 303 Wacker in the loop. As co-director of the Center, Joan is driving forward their vision for Chicago to be a hub for internationally focused nonprofit organizations, partners, and supporters collaborating to realize positive change in the world.
Joan joins an amazing group of women in this endeavor with Adele Simmons
, founder and president of Global Philanthropy Partnerships, and her co-director April Donnellan
, who was a foreign service diplomat before serving as Executive Director of Global Philanthropy Partnerships.
NextGroup is so very proud of our Fierce Founder Joan Sherman! She inspires every one of us to keep reaching, keep serving, and keep surprising in your what’s next!
